BOUNTYS |
In April 1789, the H.M.S. Bounty left Tahiti and whilst passing through the Endeavour Channel, a number of the crew staged a mutiny. Captain Blight and 18 loyal crewmembers were forced by the mutineers into one of the three small lifeboats and were cast adrift. The craft, powered by a large sail and with four men rowing at a time, covered 3,600 miles until they reached the safety of Timor.

I preparation of the great of race of 3,600 miles between Lisbon and Hamilton in 1964, some of her sails were amended and after some hard training, the ship reached a speed of 15 knots. She has a crew of 36 officers, 143 sailors and 70 marines. The shop has 2 saluting cannons and her total weight is 94.13mm.

A 2,700-ton vessel with 74 cannons launched in 1756, the San Juan Nepomuceno represents for the Spaniards a wonderful example of the heroic temper of their race and of the bravery of their sailors. Commanded by Admiral Cosme Damian Churruca, the San Juan Nepomuceno fought at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805, and there won imperishable glory through suffering and death. Admiral Nelson, mortally wounded, continued directly the battle, while Admiral Churruca, whose leg was shot off by a cannon ball, continued commanding his ship, ordering fire!

The first class ship H.M.S. Victory was launched on May 7, 1765. It played an important part in the English fleet from 1778 to 1812, and built its reputation in the important battles at Ushant (1781) and San Vicente (1797). But it was October 21, 1805 at the Cape of Trafalgar where, under the command of Admiral Nelson, this fabulous ship brought victory to the English fleet over the Spanish French armada. The battle of Trafalgar, whose bicentenary will be October 21, 2005, marked the climax and supremacy of the Royal Navy when H.M.S. Victory made history. As a museum since 1992, the Victory can be seen and admired in the Royal Navy port in Portsmouth. (England)

The Santa Ana was built at El Ferrol, Spain in 1784. She was a prototype of a series of 8 ships and carried 112 guns. In Trafalgar, 1805, she fought against the Royal Sovereign. After more than three hours with over 100 men killed, her rigging destroyed and surrounded by many British ships, she surrendered. But, during the heavy storm that followed the battle, her crew seized her and the Santa Ana arrived to Cadiz.

A British Frigate built at Le Havre in 1794 as a 24.8 lb long guns French corvette, IUnite was captured in 1796 by the British and renamed H.M.S. Surprise. She was rearmed and classified as a sixth-rate frigate. She inspired the Aubrey-Maturin series of novels by Patrick OBrian and featured in the 2003 film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.
